Katie Raquel has been committed to her painting practice for twenty years and was recently awarded an individual artist's grant by the Arts Council for Monterey County. 

You can also visit an 8’ x 8’ mural by Katie on permanent display in Carmel Plaza. 

In her art and life, Katie is curious about the ways that we relate to and depend on nature, and strives to take the time to pay attention to moments of natural beauty and communicate their value.

As a homeschooling mom of three, she finds herself inspired by the playful way that her children interact with the world, and incorporates that whimsical energy into her work with a focus on capturing iridescence.
